Colin Cowherd: âThereâs something unique about the âGreek Freakâ. He just plays harder than everybody else. He plays with this optimistic joy, thereâs no drama with him. Heâs like an 8-year-old playing basketball for the first time. You wanna tell him âHey, slow down! There are four quarters here!â Even the greatest players coast at times and take possessions off, but not Giannis. He only has one âholeâ, that free-throw thing, but last night he was Larry Bird. Heâs only 26 and getting better. Here is something else I like about Giannis, and I like new stuff but I like âold schoolâ too. He only follows seven people on Twitter. His mother, his three brothers, his fiancĂŠe, Elon Musk, and Kobe. Giannis is an old soul at 26, heâs not brand-obsessed, heâs not Twitter obsessed, he leaves politics to everybody else, and heâs not part of the giant American basketball machine. He feels like an outsider. For all his utterly amazing physical gifts, there are two other things that I donât think we give him credit for. Heâs humble and heâs grateful. Heâs truly different, itâs about âfamilyâ, itâs about âloyalty', itâs about âtrustworthinessâ, itâs about MILWAUKEE. I like Giannis, I never really thought he was a face of the league, he just didnât want to be and it didnât interest him. In a unique way, not the âAmerican basketball machineâ way, he is now the face of the league⌠Heâs coachable, heâs likeable, and he values stuff that for my entire life has worked in every business Iâve been in. WORK HARD. Thereâs a little âAmerican Dreamâ to Giannis. If you come to America and youâve got talent and you work really, really hard youâll fail â initially. You donât have the connections, perhaps, of somebody born here, and then youâll fail again, and you may fail AGAIN. But if youâre optimistic, and you persevere, and youâre coachable, and youâre trustable, and you care about the things that truly matterâŚAmerica is a great place, and this morning, and Iâve never said this before, in the NBA there is no place like Milwaukee.â (Full Video Above)
