Baker Mayfield is Too Emotional to Play Quarterback in the NFL

Cleveland Browns v New England Patriots
Clay Travis: “I’m not a huge believer in Baker Mayfield. I don’t really have anything against him, I just think he’s too emotional to play quarterback in the NFL. I understand it’s important for emotion to fuel football players and athletes in general, but too much emotion can go over the edge and take you out of control. Baker all too often has flirted with that edge. When Mayfield lets the emotions get the better him, he is giving fuel to the defense to wanna destroy him more than they already do. NFL defenses don’t want to say it publicly but they want to break a quarterback over their knee like Bane did to Batman. You don’t need to give them any added reason to do that.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Clay Travis explain why he thinks Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is too emotional of a personality to ever solidify himself as a legitimate NFL quarterback.

Mayfield has essentially reserved a parking spot at the top of the NFL tabloids all season, and continues to absorb disastrous PR for his volatile behavior not only on the field, but with teammates, coaches, reporters, and even social media.

Clay says sports involve an incredible amount of passion and excitement, but the ‘edge’ that Mayfield is trying to harness is actually acting as his own detriment.

Clay believes Mayfield’s arrogance has put a target on his back, with opposing defenses going out of their way to circle Cleveland on their schedule.

Check out the audio below as Clay details why stars like Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, and even Drew Brees are probably just as confident as Mayfield privately, but are guys who know how to control themselves publicly.
